Course Description: This course is an in-depth study and applications of polynomial, rational, radical, exponential and logarithmic functions, and systems of equations using matrices. Comments: The BHC mathematics department believes this INET course is designed specifically for high performing and self-motivated STEM students who are capable of independent learning. This totally online course will use the interactive internet-based software called MyMathLab. Students must have access to a computer with Internet to complete the required work for this course. This course recommends a graphing calculator. One of any version of the following Texas Instruments (TI) calculators, TI-83, TI-84, or TI-86, is acceptable. Students may not use the TI-89, TI-92, or the TI-NSpire calculator. Students must purchase a new textbook bundle with MyMathLab or a stand-alone MyMathLab access code. Calculus I
This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a Core Curriculum course selected by the colleges of DCCCD.
Prerequisite Required: MATH 2412 or equivalent.
Course Description: This course is a study of limits and continuity; the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus; definition of the derivative of a function and techniques of differentiation; applications of the derivative to maximizing or minimizing a function; the chain rule, mean value theorem, and rate of change problems; curve sketching; definite and indefinite integration of algebraic, trigonometric, and transcendental functions, with an application to calculation of areas.
