This is a Texas Common Course Number. This is a Core Curriculum course selected by the colleges of DCCCD.
Prerequisite Required: College level ready in Reading and Writing.
Course Description: Intensive study of and practice in writing processes, from invention and researching to drafting, revising, and editing, both individually and collaboratively. Emphasis on effective rhetorical choices, including audience, purpose, arrangement, and style. Focus on writing the academic essay as a vehicle for learning, communicating, and critical analysis. This 16-week section of ENGL 1301 is an online hybrid course requiring some on-campus attendance. Students will meet at 2-3:30 p.m. on Mondays each week in W279A. There are no exceptions. Students who cannot attend these sessions should find another section or drop the course. This QEP class includes additional support for your growth as a critical reader, writer, and thinker. The decreased class size of this section is for the purpose of providing you with more personalized instruction; in addition, students in this section will receive honors credit if they earn an A in the course.
