The Ascender Learning Community is a first-year experience program for community college students created to ensure college readiness toward completion and transfer. The Dallas College Ascender Learning Community is comprised of caring and engaged faculty, success coaches, student support staff, and mentors, who work together to create a unique atmosphere for students known as an "Academic Familia."
By participating in Ascender at Dallas College, you will: Receive navigational support through holistic advising, counseling, and career and transfer skills development.
Be required to enroll in at least 6 – 9 credit hours each semester that includes some combination of English, Math, Learning Frameworks, and other core subjects taught by Ascender-trained instructors. Engage in cultural events, leadership development, internships, and community mentorship.
